Dental Hygiene

About

Our Dental Hygiene Practitioners are licensed oral health professionals who work alongside our dentists to provide preventive care and education to patients. They perform a variety of tasks to help maintain good oral health, including scaling and polishing teeth, taking dental X-rays, and applying fluoride treatments.

During a dental cleaning, a dental hygienist will use special instruments to remove plaque and tartar buildup from the teeth and gum line. They may also perform a deep cleaning, called scaling and root planing, for patients with gum disease. This involves removing plaque and tartar from below the gum line and smoothing out the root surfaces to help prevent future buildup.

In addition to cleaning teeth, dental hygienists also provide patient education on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing and flossing. They may also recommend specific dental products, such as toothbrushes or mouthwashes, to help patients maintain good oral health at home.

Overall, dental hygiene performed by our Dental Hygiene Practitioners is an important component of preventive dental care and can help patients maintain healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime.
