When should my child see a Dentist?

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, a child should see a dentist for the first time by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth erupts. This is to ensure that any potential dental problems are detected early and that parents receive guidance on how to care for their child's teeth properly.

After the first visit, children should see a dentist every six months for regular check-ups and cleanings. These regular visits can help prevent cavities and gum disease and detect any potential issues early on.

However, if your child experiences any dental problems such as toothaches, swelling, or bleeding gums, you should schedule an appointment with the dentist as soon as possible, regardless of their age or the time since their last visit.

Overall, it's important to prioritize your child's oral health by scheduling regular visits to the dentist, practicing good oral hygiene at home, and limiting sugary and acidic foods and drinks.
